DTV Visa Questions

These questions often cover a broad range of topics, and can include anything from basic inquiries about a product or service.
Can I apply for a DTV Visa while staying in Thailand?

No. The application must be processed through a Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate abroad. Once your visa is approved, you can enter Thailand and begin your stay immediately.

You can work remotely for employers, businesses, or clients located outside Thailand. You are  not permitted to work for companies registered inside Thailand without a separate Work Permit and  Non-Immigrant B Visa.

Yes. Each entry grants a 180-day stay, extendable once for another 180 days at a local  Immigration Office (fee: 1,900 THB).    After expiry, depart and re-enter for a new 180-day period.

Yes, if you stay continuously for more than 90 days without departing. You must notify Thai  Immigration in person or online. If you depart before 90 days, the count resets on re-entry  no  report needed for that period.

Yes. Your legal spouse (valid marriage certificate) and dependent children under 20 can apply  for a DTV Dependent Visa to stay in Thailand together.

Tax residency is based on duration of stay, not visa type. If you stay 180 days or more in a  single calendar year, you are classified as a Thai Tax Resident. Consult a qualified tax professional  for advice specific to your situation.

Yes. You will need a Certificate of Residence (from your Embassy or Thai Immigration), a  medical certificate, and required identity documents — presented at the Department of Land  Transport.

You can purchase and own a condominium unit (100% freehold in your name, provided foreign  ownership in the building does not exceed 49%). Direct freehold ownership of land or houses in a  foreigner’s name is not permitted under current Thai law.

Overstaying is a serious legal violation: 500 THB per day fine (maximum 20,000 THB), and may  result in arrest, deportation, and being blacklisted from re-entering Thailand
